Last week was rough. Could you tell?
Every once in a while, I feel I can not go on. At least not well. I can go through the motions, but I am worn thin. Tired out. Ill children seem to do that to me faster than usual. I get tired of the constantsy of this job that is called motherhood. The constantsy of the messes. The constantsy of the noise. The constantsy of the repetitiveness. As Kate so accurately stated it, "everyday is vastly different, yet painfully the same." Amen sista Kate!
Sometimes I need a break and a chance to step away. To refocus. To regroup. To gather my senses and remember why it is I do what I do. A chance to miss the children.
Thank God for those opportunities.
They say it takes a village...I agree. The aid of the "villagers" is an essential part of helping bring out the best in moms and dads.
Saturday night, my mom watched the 4 kids overnight so we could have a break.
Bob and I went to church. Much needed on our "date night" as we have missed a couple of weeks due to sick kids, and that always puts me in a funk. I need church.
We slept. From 9-9 (with the exception of a little Clover feeding).
We lazily ate breakfast and we didn't need to sweep the floor afterward.
We tooled around Wal-Mart for a bit.
We picked the kids up.
It was great. Yes, a 'date' that consisted of church, sleep, and Wal-Mart was incredible.
I am deeply grateful for this job and for this calling on my life. But sometimes, I need to step away from it for a few hours to soak it all in, to count my blessings one by one and to recall that there is not one thing on this earth I would rather be doing.
Thank you God for always meeting my need.
Thank you mom for watching the children.
A 2 hour delay this morning even left time for cookie-baking before school. We're off to a better start this week, and we are praying for better health!
