to you, Jayla, Onyx, Tyden, Stryder, and Clover,
I was just thinking about you all as I was soaking in a hot bathtub for some birthday afternoon relaxation.
I would like to share this with you today.
My prayer for each of your lives is that you will embrace the abilities, strengths, traits, qualities, and giftings that are uniquely yours. Sadly, in our world, it seems many struggles are born from the desire to conform with a sameness that is socially acceptable, desirable, and pleasing, no matter the cost. Young people can be especially prone to this, as being different can make you stand out at a time when you want so desperately to blend in.
I hope you will find a way to treasure your uniqueness and not try to squelch it. If others do not accept and appreciate you for who you are, they are not genuine friends. Although that recognition may hurt you for a time, it is better to have people in your life who love you as you are, and will support you in your pursuit of your fullest potential as you support theirs. Pray for those who don't, and invest your time with those who do.
As you lovingly accept yourself with your flaws, limitations, and special capabilities which equip you to do His work in and through your life, offer this same acceptance to others. Be someone who is glad to see others do well, a person who is pleased and willing to honor others.
Your light will shine best when it is authentic, unhindered, free. Uniquely yours. You will be able to do on earth what no one else can do as you fulfill God's calling and purposes for your life. Although you will be tempted to do so, don't bother worrying about how your light compares to another. Just be you. You.
God made you beautiful and extraordinary. Glorify Him with all that you are as you seek out what He would have you to do. That will be the best gift you can give to everyone, including yourself.
I love you more than I could possibly say.
Thank you for being you and for accepting me as I am.
You continue to teach me much about life and love.
I will try to be a good example to you.
Your mom
Matthew 5:16
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Happy birthday to a fabulous mom!
Happy belated Birthday my dear friend! Great letter to your kids. You are a wise woman and mother. I will join you at age 34 very soon, but for now you are older. I remember a time when I didn't enjoy waiting to be be the same age. Today I will love being 33 for another week.
Your children are so incredibly blessed, altho it might be years until they realize fully how unique this is, to have you writing these amazing words of wisdom and love. You pour yourself into these precious little people and nurture them in beautiful and unique ways. Someday, they will be old enough and mature enough to recognize their incredible gift from God in the form of their very own mother, and they truly will call you "Blessed."
