Why? Why and why?
Of course, one of these books comes wrapped in a cute little bag, along with a tiny stuffed turtle replica of the character in the story. Now that's way more fun to bring home than a plain old book to actually read yourself. One of my kids thought so anyway and readily checked this ensemble out with great anticipation of the times we would enjoy together crowded around the turtle story listening to someone read it to us.
We do not even currently own a cassette player.
And, this is what happens to intriguing little foreign objects with small circular holes and stringy brown ribbon to pull and pull in our home:

Oh my hey but wait a second I have some of those "80's" cassette tapes you speak of and a player :( is that a bad thing?
Story: My stereo equipment is one of the FIRST surround sound systems that came out. I remember about 6 years ago the receiver broke. I was sitting there one afternoon jamming to some tunes LOL & smoke came rolling out of the receiver :( so making a long story short I search high and low for a place to repair my receiver. After all it was the FIRST stereo I ever bought. I could not just throw it away... I found a repair shop and took it to them they charge me $25.00 to check it out and called me in a day or two and said "Mr Huffer its not worth fixing buy a new one" I said "No you don't understand I want it fixed." They gave me a price to fix it that was more then I paid for it to start with back when I was about 18 or so. But yes call me stupid I paid to have it fixed and years later I am happy to report it is working fine :) The shop that fixed it is now closed but ....... Anyway I am not sure what my point is here but I like the old stuff and hate change LOL.
Now don't get me wrong I have my CD's and computer and all the new goodies too but ... Anyway I'll go now... Next thing you know you'll have me talking about 8 tracks.
I think you did them a favor! Most definitely! MM, hMM!
Ha! How would they determine a replacement price? I'm still hanging on to my cassette tapes too. I'm also a dinosaur who hates change lol. One of Andrew's friends was showing me her iPod touch screen thingy last night and I got so overwhelmed just watching her make the screen move around that I almost hyperventilated. :O)
hahaha that Ipod comment makes me laugh, I totally relate! I actually have 2 tape players! And I do check out the tapes from the library. They came in really handy this week when I had a sore throat and could only sit with Matia and teach her how to flip pages when she heard the chime. It's fun because along with the archaic cassettes comes some great old books that I loved as a kid. It's was fun to revisit those old friends. Any way, good luck with the return to the library. I'm off to remove the mud mats from my mini van in search of a missing DVD that I borrowed. Ta Ta!
