this little girl. The same little girl who would scream in her crib for hours on end as a baby when we finally tried the "cry it out" approach. The toddler who would bang her head on anything she could find in fits of fury, until her forehead was black and blue. This girl who is just now beginning to sleep through the night without crying spells...most nights. The one who can be painfully shy and introverted in public, yet vie relentlessly at home for the coveted title of "woman in charge." Her life has been touched by the hand of God and I am deeply grateful.
Doing preschool at home, I was not sure how she would fare in a school setting. Schools can be such cruel places for certain kids. My daily prayer for her has been this: Luke 2:52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.
That she too would have favor...favor with God first, then with others.
I spoke to the guidance counselor at school today about a "friendship group" the students are participating in, and she raved about this girl. She said these are the kinds of kids we need in our schools. Wow. Jayla can be quite intense and sensitive, so to have her experiencing the favor of others at this tender stage of her life means so much to me. Today I am thanking God for answered prayers, and praising Him for His goodness to our little girl.
