That's our new family motto. Deep, I know. Born from a road trip this weekend, it became our mantra, our chant, our mission, our lone goal. Does it sound kind-of pessimistic? It's really not. It's funny to us. Now, if you can enter a public restroom and calmly do your business, wash your hands then calmly walk out, if you enjoy leisurely meals served to you in the comfort of a homey restaurant, if you quietly occupy hotel rooms without disturbing other people who are "vacationing" like you are, if you don't "sleep" 6 people to a room, if you have no need to mediate squabbles while you sit in your car, you may not comprehend the essential nature of a motto such as this. But, if you have ever traveled with your young family, you probably understand fully why Bob and I would look at each other, smile, and say over and over again, "let's just make the best of it." And so we did.
We desperately wanted to visit my grandparents in Kansas before they move to another city, much further away. So we packed up and took off. It was great to see them and we were glad to go. Our little man didn't care too much for the change in schedule or scenery, so there were some hairy moments, but hey, in the Deutsch family, we make the best of it. Rah Rah Rah.
We went to bed last night thankful. Thankful to be home, thankful for a safe trip, thankful for our lively family, thankful for the chance to visit my grandparents, and thankful to God for reminding us that we must continue to praise Him, always and in every situation, even the inconvenient ones.
Psalm 71:8 Let my mouth be filled with Your praise And with Your glory all the day.
