Working to instill a sense of stewardship in the kids we've taught them that God has provided dad with a job, he goes to work, gets paid money and that is how we have the house, food, cars, clothing....
Bob works his fair share of overtime and call-out emergency response. He never works a 40 hour week, always more, sometimes much, much more.
We're thankful for the overtime as it helps keep our family afloat.
Although, time becomes precious and he spends a lot of it away from home.

Add to that:
Working to instill a sense of charity and giving. Being thankful that we always have enough to eat, nice warm beds, a home to live in....
It's good to give because not everyone has as much as we do and we can bless others.
