Dear JOTSC,
We all appreciate affirmation and the affection of others. It feels nice when people like you, when they are fond of you. Consider this secondary, at best in you life. Please try to avoid the pitfall of desiring the praise of people. Women can be especially prone to this. If you happen to have favor with others, great. Good for you. But don't place too much emphasis on it. Even if people adore you, don't let that excite you too much. People are fickle. One minute they think you are the greatest thing since sliced bread, the next, when you do or say something they do not approve of, you can quickly fall in their eyes. Their judgements can bring sorrow and their praise can bring pride. Pedestals are not appropriate for human beings, they are best reserved for God alone. If you desire popularity, maintain your focus on popularity with the Most High. Do everything you can to please Him and don't worry so much about what others think. Keep your eyes fixed upon Him and listen to His voice to guide your actions. In the end, His is the only popularity contest that will truly matter.

Deuteronomy 28-3
"Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the LORD your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the LORD your God: “Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country.
