This is a day I do not want you to forget.
For Easter, nana gave you a gift bag with some girlie things in it. You especially liked a little beaded bracelet you received. You wore it tonight with your pjs as we watched Enchanted. After the movie, when it was time to get ready for bed and you used the restroom, your bracelet fell in the toilet and you accidently flushed it down. You were crushed.
Next comes the part I hope you'll remember forever.
Your daddy tried to retrieve the bracelet. Took the toilet apart and all. He could not get it back. As I type this, it is after 9:00 at night, you are in bed fast asleep and your father has gone to Wal-Mart to buy you a new beaded bracelet. Mind you dear, this is not a quick little jaunt from our house!
He saw his daughter's heart break and he wants to mend it. Mend it the way only a hero-in-her-eyes kind of daddy can.
A father's love is so precious and priceless to a little girl, and to a teen girl, and to a grown woman. This is the first man in your life and he shows you how someone should cherish you. He shows you how special and important you are. Jayla, you are blessed to have a father who is committed to you. I know it's only a little plastic bracelet, (and with your brothers around it will probably be broken very soon!) but to me it means the world that you will have a new one waiting for you in the morning and I know it does to you too sweetie. When you grow up and think of your dad, I hope you'll remember times like this. Times when he went above and beyond the call of duty for his little girl to show you how much he cares for you. This is your dad, and he is giving you a gift money can not buy....a gift placed on your heart....one that will remain long after the broken bracelet is forgotten.
