This morning,
Me: "Tyden what are you doing?"
Tyden: "Packing this box of toys to give to the kids who have nufin."

Our church is collecting items for an orphanage in Haiti, so we bought and gathered some things to give them over the weekend:

A woman from the orphanage came to speak and share some about this haven for unwanted children in a country where it is common to find babies floating down the river in plastic bags. While this home gives hope and help, her words have been haunting me. I wish I could do more for these precious children. This orphanage needs everything. EVERYTHING. These loving people are tirelessly working for kids who so desperately need them, but they are short on every kind of supply. Heartbreakingly, they will mix clay and water to feed the children so they have something to fill their stomachs because they do not have enough food. I shudder to imagine how must it feel to have hungry little ones looking to you for food, and being unable to provide nourishment.
How blessed beyond words are we to live in a place where we can so easily provide every single need for our children and most of what they could ever want too....a place where our 'big' decisions are whether to put them in soccer, hockey or gymnastics....a place with state of the art medical care....a land of plenty...a place where we have more than enough to go around, more than enough of every single necessary item we could ever, ever need.
I see the faces of these children in my mind when I close my eyes. I pray for God to draw near to them and comfort their hearts, and I pray for the ability and resources to do more.
