Summer School.

We are doing school and it is summer...because, well, those lazy days of summer are way overrated. Whoever came up with that spectacularly absurd way of describing the days between Memorial Day to Labor Day did not have a slew of young children. Seriously, lazy? Come on now, there is NO POSSIBLE WAY to be lazy with the kids around. Too much idle "down" time for said laziness leads to boredom, which leads to fighting, which leads to screaming, which leads to hitting/kicking/biting, which leads to an endless stream of consequences (each of the 4 only have to act up once per hour for me to be administering consequences every 15 minutes), which leads to the looney bin for mom. The last thing these kids are is lazy, so the last thing our summer will be is....you guessed it....lazy!
So, we're on a light school schedule. Let the learning adventure begin. They actually love it. It gives them something to do and I've come up with a variety of ways to make it fun (not because I'm so clever, but because necessity is the mother of all invention!)
Right now, they are out for recess in the rainy, damp, chilly, non-summery weather because teacher mom needs them to have recess and for some reason having a designated school-type name for playing outside makes it all the more exciting. Yes, I admit it. I have the kind of kids that need to attend summer school and no, I am not rethinking our homeschool decision. I already had a clue as to what these children were like when we chose this option, so I'm not surprised they require year-round education.
Clover is 5 months old today. She is a gift from God.
