Days of glorious rain have left us with lots of mud. An entire afternoon was spent with nothing but dirt and containers from the recycling bin. The kids had a muddy blast.
The prairie grass is green! We have some beautiful wildflowers and the garden is sprouting up a storm. We planted carrots, lettuce, radishes, yellow squash, zucchini, tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, and even tried out watermelon, cantaloupe, and pumpkins, not really sure if we allowed enough room for them to do well though. Our compost bin is working wonders-transforming food scraps into nice, dark, rich soil so I can't wait to see what happens with the garden next year when we can use that soil. I hope it will make for great production.
The temperatures have been gorgeous-not too hot, not too cold. Every summer, I am so glad we live in Colorado.
Keeping it cold works! We ended the year with nearly a $500 propane surplus. Dropping to 60 degrees didn't even bother any of us. We're fairly active ;-) Maybe that's what helped us stay warm.
In April we averaged 25 kilowatt/per day electricity usage. That's pretty low for us, especially since we still had lots of snow and cold temps during that time. I get downright giddy when the electric bill comes and I see low kilowatt numbers. Less dishwasher use and giving the clothes dryer almost a complete rest, only using it in 'emergencies' are the 2 things that make the biggest difference here.

It was quite amusing to watch Tyden pushing Stryder on the swing last night. Funny boys.
Big daddy's been working a lot. We've hardly seen him this week. Which means, we've had picnic suppers of popcorn and fruit while we watch a movie during dinnertime. It's fun to be out of the normal routine, but we miss him and will look forward to some time together in the next couple of days. He only has to go into work one time over the weekend : )
Planning to pack a lunch and walk around Garden of the gods tomorrow, which Jayla likes to announce to EVERYONE is NOT named well. There are not gods, only one true God. She is a good good girl. ;-) Someone once said it would be better named God's Garden. I think we'll call it that.

Oh, I loved the "Bon Voyage!" comment! Made me laugh!
You guys have such fun living life day-by-day! Thanks, as always, for sharing so much of you and yours with those of us who love you.
We heard that Uncle Bob has been in a rehab place but is coming home and will continue to pray for him and Aunt Patty.
We took them to God's Garden, as it should be called, the summer we visited and got to see you and your precious little people -- almost 2 years ago. They love that place, and rightly so. It was a joy to take them there, and to share that special time with them.
I love this family!!!!!!!
Bobby
