I will look at them all winter long and pretend that flowers are actually in bloom. Because although everyone else I know seems to be crazy joyful about pumpkins and spice and hot chocolate and sweaters and all of that, I not so much a fan of autumn. It means winter is coming. Then, spring will follow. And in Colorado, spring is just code for wetter snow. With 7 energetic (homeschooling) kids (4 boys!) being stuck indoors is recipe for a massive dose of C A B I N F E V E R. We get used to it and find a new, (cabin fever) cold weather rhythm that includes lots of puzzles and baking and soup making and me trying (rather pathetically) to construct (rather pathetic) crafts. Then, it finally warms up again. And another winter bites the dust, leaving me wondering where the time has gone.
I should really try to enjoy them more. Maybe this year I will focus on the "good" parts of winter.
Until then, I heart summer. And my new flowers.

I have an idea! This winter, when that cabin fever sets in, we should take turns--you bake with our 11 combined children, and I'll do a craft with them! It's a win-win. I'll prepare a few crafts to have on hand, and last minute, on those I-can't-stand-it-any-more days, you can call me up and we'll get together for impromptu craft time!
Maybe they can make me some of those wall flowers...

My name is Laura. We have never met, but I found your blog through a friend's blog. Anyway. I live in the Springs and can't seem to find anyone else who feels they way that I do about the weather. I can so relate to what you said about fall, spring and winter. Summer is great here, but it is way to short and I spend the rest of the year mourning over the weather.
We are an adoptive family. 4 bio children and 2 children(brother and sister) from Africa. I love seeing other adoptive families. I have enjoyed reading your blog over the last couple of weeks.
