Having the chance to be your mommy has been one of the single most charitable gifts I could ever be granted this side of eternity. My heart overflows and bursts wide open and explodes with soft affection for you, little one.
Clover, you entered our home bearing in your tiny hands a bountiful dose of beauty and gentleness and peaceful ease. You filled our lives with wonder and gladness the day you were born, and you have continued to do so on every one since. You have enchanted us all. Parenting you, living with you, watching you learn and grow and play, is purest joy. There is not a thing I don't love about you. Nothing at all.
From the way you dress up in your fine and fancy clothes, to how you send your voice soaring into the air singing a song, to you cuddling up in my lap with your blanket while you suck your thumb and let me read you story after story until you fall asleep, to the pictures you color in marker and the newly acquired, sometimes backwards letters you scribble as you write a love note, to the way you love to play Barbies for hours at a time, to how you twirl around in circles, asking do I look pretty? I love every big and small, simple and bright bit of it. And, yes, you look so very pretty.
To me, you are everything light and lovely.
Thank you for each day tenderizing my heart with your presence.
Happy 5th birthday, Dolly. I wish you many, many, many more years of carefree twirling.
The Lord bless you and keep you.
The Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you.
The Lord life up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
