Relentless in the pursuit of Mischief

Jayla set her backpack by the door so she could grab it on her way out when it was time to leave for school. I went to brush my teeth and change Clover. I came out, hollered my usual "loooooad em' up" meaning, let's go! To our surprise, as we head toward the door, we find our dear little Stryder thoroughly enjoying Jayla's lunch, which he got into her backpack and helped himself to.

That kid. I won't list his transgressions from yesterday alone, because that would just sound like complaining. But, I will say this: I am sorry to the children he bit while we were at your house enjoying lunch and I am sorry to their parents too (while I'm at it, I'll throw in an apology for when he toppled your Christmas tree last December because I'm can't remember if I apologized for that.) I promise to not enter a 3 mile radius of your home until I get this wild child under control so you no longer have to advise your children to "just run away when you see Stryder coming." Because ideally, telling your your kids, "you're friends are coming over to play today!" should not bring fear and trepidation. Hopefully, if all goes well, we'll see you in a few years and I will miss your cooking terribly.

Hmm...where have I seen this before? Oh yes, in my house. Just when we think we have the morning routine working like clock work...Henry eats Davis' pudding or pours out his water bottle.

Oh, poor Stryder. He's just particularly good at being a toddler. Don't worry, I'm sure when he is 12 and you describe to him the mayhem and distress he caused as a little one, you will smile.

next time i invite you over, we'll get laura to babysit stryder (she's so good with him), then you and i will be able to actually sit down together and have a conversation.
