Jayla,
You talked about it all day. "Tonight is our date mom. I'm so excited. Can I wear a dress? Where are we going to eat? It's going to be really fun."
You wore your ruby red slippers with your denim skirt and super cute, striped tights.
We had pizza and went to get our hair trimmed. Nothing special, yet so very special. You talked to the baby at the restaurant who reminded you of your sister. We held hands in the car.
My 7 year old girl, going out on a date with you was one of the highlights of my life. Maybe that sounds corny, but I don't care. I'm serious J. You are some kind of wonderful and I treasure our one-on-one time spent together. It doesn't take much to thrill you and you are still so innocently grateful. When we stopped by the store on our way home all you asked for was a lunchable for yourself and your brothers as a treat. Seriously, a lunchable. I laugh to myself as I write this. I know one day you'll probably think that's funny as well. I'm pretty sure you smiled the entire evening. I know I did. I never want to forget you as you were that night. Dates with my daughter....the stuff this mom's dreams are made of.
I love you girl.
Thanks for being exactly you, my dear Jayla.
Love always no matter what,
Your mom
