I was just thinking of how different our lives are now than they were in October of last year.
We have an abundance of both quantity and quality time, as a homeschooling family.
Obviously (and most importantly, of course) time to bake tasty treats.
There is plenty of time to read children's novels, to play games, to read the Bible, to pray, to imaginatively play, to watch family movies, (even on weeknights if we would like), to work on character development and the tuning of the conscience. The younger children have time to nap. There is time to connect hearts and deal with issues as they arise.
It's wonderful.
I can't tell you how much I love it.
I have complete freedom to be the Jesus-lovin, hippie, country, momma I was born to be : ) The kids have complete freedom to explore and pursue their own personal interests.
Yes, the days are busy. No doubt about that.
The busyness is just different than it was last year when J was in school. It's a much better busy. A more fulfilling busy. A less rushed busy. A simpler busy.
The kids wake up happier.
They work and play (and dance!) hard.
They go to sleep happier. If it's later than we planned, fine.
We spend less time in the car and nearly none in a hurry to get out the door.
The kids are excelling academically. It has to be the one-on-one attention. They are far ahead of where I expected them to be.
My regrets at the end of each day are fewer.
And for a person like me, that speaks volumes :-)
Thanking God today for this, the sweetest time in my life thus far, spent with the people who have my heart.
She's number 1.

I don't have children yet but this makes me consider homeschooling them when I do have children!

You express so much of what I too love about home education. I never had my kids in public school, but I can imagine how hectic it would be...in the car every day, running here and there...frazzled. We often will go days without getting into the van. Instead we walk...to the library, to the market, to the bank and to parks :)
Lower stress for mom equals lower stress for everyone and staying in jammies on a cold winter morning is so lovely!
