Little School on the Prarie.

We have decided to homeschool next year.
Oh yes indeed. You read correctly. My days of lounging around on the sofa and eating bon bons while I watch soap operas are O V E R. No more long afternoon bubble baths for me. No more lunching with the ladies. No more 2 hour hair appointments at 10 am. No more reading novels while I sip my latte at Starbucks.
My life is going to change in a big way. Ginormous changes.
Kidding...well not about the homeschooling part, but about the lifestyle part.

We will have 1 first grader, 1 kindergartner, 1 preschooler and 1 toddler and 1 baby.
So, as you see this is just a wee little endeavor.
But, we feel absolutely confident, without question that this is the best for our children and for our family at this time.

I guarantee no child will be left behind.

Will it be easy? Of course not. But that's nothing new as we moved off Easy Street several years and a few children ago. It will be rewarding and we believe our kids will reap those rewards for a lifetime.

Both Bob and I firmly believe it is advantageous for them academically, socially, and spiritually.

We do have a "jump start" so to speak, as we have done preschool at home.

I have chosen a curriculum that we will use and I will modify as I learn what works and what we can improve upon. Bob will head up our art and science departments.

We are enrolling J and O in a State funded, enrichment program from 9-3 every Friday with other homeschooled kids at the elementary school. They will have gym class and trips to the school library, in addition to some classwork.
They will be able to participate in the public school sports, if they choose.

They will also participate in AWANAS, and I think I will be volunteering there as well next year.

That's our newest big news. Exciting stuff. We are thankful to live in the land of the free to have opportunities like this to follow where we strongly feel God is leading our family. We humbly praise Him for His goodness and His mercy.

Oh, girl. You are gonna MISS those bubble baths and long lunches!

I think it's great that you're homeschooling and I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun doing it. The travel to "school" on one day of the week for all the extras sounds perfect.
